MUNA took the stage on Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform“Dancing on the Wall,”the title track from their latest album. What fans didn’t know until after the taping was that Gal Gadot was also on the episode, sitting down with Kimmel to promote her new Prime Video action film, The Runner.

In an Instagram Stories post, band member Naomi McPherson wrote that the taping happened a few days earlier and that the band wasn’t told who the other guests would be. McPherson used the post to add“free palestine,”putting the band’s stance in direct contrast with Gadot, a former IDF soldier and one of Hollywood’s most prominent pro-Israel voices. Gadot has faced criticism in the past over a 2021 social media post about violence between Israel and Palestine.

MUNA’s fall North American tour kicks off next week, so this is a band with a lot going on right now, musically and otherwise. The episode has already sparked plenty of debate online about late-night bookings, artist platforms, and what happens when two very different public figures end up on the same stage. Where do you land on this one?
