Michael Douglas is out here promoting his New York Times bestselling memoirOne Helluva Ride, and the book doesn’t hold back. It covers his past affairs, including with Kathleen Turner and Jeanne Tripplehorn. So when CNN asked whether Catherine Zeta-Jones had veto power over any of it, Douglas was clear:“She would not have veto power, but I would not put anything in the book that she would not like.”He also referred to his life before her as“B.C. — Before Catherine,”which is somehow both self-aware and very on brand.
Zeta-Jones, for her part, told Today she has no plans to read the book at all.“As much as I love my husband, when I’m tired at night, I have no intention of reading about him. At all.”She supported the release, she just doesn’t need the details. Douglas agreed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that skipping it was probably“for the best.”
The couple met in 1998 after The Mask of Zorro, married in 2000, and have two kids together. That’s 26 years and a roughly 25-year age gap, and they’re still making it work on their own terms. Would you read your partner’s memoir if it covered their exes? Let us know.
