Michael Douglas is out with a new memoir,“One Helluva Ride,”and the stories are already doing numbers. On The Graham Norton Show, he revealed that when he and Catherine Zeta-Jones started dating in 1998, she gave him a simple ultimatum:“If we are doing this, you need to clean your act up.”At the time, Douglas was recently divorced from Diandra Luker and seeing five women in five different cities. His solution? He called all five and ended things.
In the book, Douglas explains how easy it was to get comfortable with co-stars and admits sometimes it got carried away. He met Zeta-Jones at the Deauville American Film Festival in France, and their connection clearly outweighed everything else. The pair married in 2000 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City and share two children, Dylan and Carys. Douglas is also dad to Cameron from his first marriage, and the couple even weathered a separation in 2013 before reconciling.
It’s a candid look at the early days of one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting marriages, and Zeta-Jones has joked she’s too busy to even finish his book. So what’s the take? Would you have made those five calls, or would you have run? Let us know in the comments.
