Forget the gowns. Meg Stalter showed up to the 2026 Emmys red carpet Monday night fully painted gold, dressed as a life-sized Emmy statuette complete with wings and a giant golden atom in her hand. The“Hacks”comedian, 35, posed with co-star Paul W. Downs, who wrapped his arms around her gold-painted waist while she hoisted the atom in the air. It was bold, it was funny, and it was instantly the most talked-about look of the night.

The timing could not be better. This is Stalter’s first-ever Emmy nomination, for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy, and she’s competing against her own castmate Hannah Einbinder, Janelle James, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jessica Williams. Instead of a safe, quiet carpet moment, she turned her big debut into a full comedy bit, which is very much her brand.

It’s also a pretty epic contrast to last year, when she went viral for wearing Levi’s jeans and a Hanes tee with a“Cease fire!”tote. Jeans one year, solid gold the next. Which version of Meg Stalter’s red carpet era are you picking?
