Tayshia Adams has been gearing up for the New York City Marathon for months, and now her body might have the final say. The former Bachelorette told her Instagram followers this week that her body is“acting up”ahead of Sunday’s race, which would have been her fourth time running it.
In her Stories, Adams explained that she has an autoimmune disease and that stress triggers her flare-ups, bringing extreme fatigue and joint pain. She even joked that she needs her knees this weekend, a line that’s funny right up until you remember she’s supposed to run 26.2 miles. She finished last year’s race in 4:44:54 and said she’s trying to stay positive and hopes to feel well enough to run an event she’s been anticipating for months.
Her openness is already sparking conversations about pushing through chronic illness versus knowing when to step back, and how much pressure can affect autoimmune conditions. Whatever happens Sunday, she’s given a lot of people language for their own health setbacks.
