The album in question, Someone’s Ugly Daughter, was recorded secretly during the Daydream sessions and released under the pseudonym Chick, with Carey’s friend Clarissa Dane on lead vocals. Carey’s own version of the record has never been officially released, which is exactly why fans have chased it for years. She’s previously said she’s“so mad”it hasn’t come out yet, adding,“It’s a good album. OK, you will hear it.”
The timing lines up nicely with Glitter’s redemption arc. A deluxe edition with bonus tracks arrived Friday, giving the 2001 album a fresh critical look a quarter century later.
