Madonna and Charli XCX are teaming up. The two just previewed a track called“Danceteria Afterhours,”a rework of“Danceteria”from Madonna’s album“Confessions II,”and it officially drops Thursday, September 24. The teaser clip shows the pair dancing in a white studio, with Madonna asking,“You wanna talk about Madonna and Charli?”while Charli trades vocals with her.
The timing is what has everyone talking. Madonna recently released“Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix)”with Kylie Minogue, and now she’s linking up with Charli, an artist who basically reinvented the guest-heavy remix album with her“Brat”era. That one-two punch has fans convinced a full“Confessions II”remix project is in the works. No official word yet, but the clues keep piling up.
Charli, meanwhile, is on the North American leg of her“Music, Fashion, Film”tour, so she’s having a very busy fall. Two pop icons, one track, and a whole lot of speculation. What do you think, is a full remix album coming or is this just a one-off?
