Elmer Thomas Park is the place to be this weekend as Lawton’s 47th annual International Festival brings three days of food, music and culture to the heart of the city. The festival runs Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., and admission is free for everyone.
Friday night starts strong with the Opening Ceremony and Parade of Nations at 5:45 p.m. at the South Stage, along with a Naturalization Ceremony welcoming new U.S. citizens. Across the weekend, you’ll find 33 food vendors, 21 sales vendors and entertainment on two stages, plus the returning Soap Box Derby, a Kid’s Game Area and a Dunk Tank. New this year is a Saturday Cornhole Tournament with a $20 entry fee per two-person team. This year’s festival merchandise was even designed by a MacArthur High School student.
