A 40-year-old Lawton man is being held on a $100,000 bond after police say he entered a property manager’s office on Oct. 21 holding a knife and yelling at a woman and a 15-year-old girl. According to the affidavit, witnesses told officers that Harold Gene Boyd pointed and swung the knife toward the teen before banging on the office door and window and returning to his apartment. The teen told police she was in fear for her life. Boyd was charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon, which carries up to ten years, and made his initial appearance Monday in Comanche County District Court.
The case is currently stayed while his competency is determined. That review follows a prior malicious injury to property case in which Boyd was found to be a person in need of treatment on May 18. Bond was set at $100,000 with no contact ordered between Boyd and the woman or the teen. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2027.
For residents of Lawton’s apartment communities, especially those near Fort Sill where turnover is constant and front-desk staff work alone, the incident raises practical questions about safety and how quickly concerns get reported. Officers Terran Williams and Ellette Rodriguez handled the initial response for the Lawton Police Department.
