A Lawton man already facing felony title theft charges has picked up another count. Devon Jermaine Dunham, 41, was charged September 15 with falsely reporting a crime, according to court records out of Comanche County. He’s already facing two felony counts of title theft for allegedly filing false property documents between February 3 and February 10, including fake encumbrances and eviction filings against a home at 906 NW Mickelgate that prosecutors say he did not own.
The new charge stems from a June incident in which investigators say Dunham submitted an online police report claiming another man was dead and that his identity had been used to obtain $3 million in fraudulent loans. Detectives located the man alive and found no supporting loan records, according to the Lawton Police Department investigation led by Detective Brandon Becker.
Dunham has three prior felony convictions and faces up to 30 years on each count. He is currently free on a $25,000 bond, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 7 in Comanche County.
