Joe Amabile is proving that a health scare doesn’t have to stop you from chasing big goals. The Bachelor Nation alum had surgery in August to remove a blueberry-sized tumor from his left frontal lobe. Just three months later, he’s training for the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 1.
Amabile, 40, told Us Weekly that setting a goal gave him a sense of control during an unpredictable recovery. He described tough moments early on, including pain and a strange squishy sensation in his head, and admitted he feels at 100 percent at times, but not fully. His wife, Serena Pitt, has been his biggest supporter throughout the process.
The reality TV star said crossing the finish line will feel even bigger than his first two marathons, even if his time is slower. He’s also partnering with Northwestern Mutual to talk about the importance of setting goals.
Have you ever set a big goal to get through a tough time? How did it help you?
