Jenny McCarthy is sharing a story she’s clearly been sitting on for years. On her podcast, she told former Scientologist Anne Gollert Hill that at Tom Cruise’s 2006 wedding weekend to Katie Holmes, she and then-boyfriend Jim Carrey were seated across from the couple at the rehearsal dinner, and the conversation turned into what she describes as a recruitment pitch. When she asked to hold baby Suri, McCarthy says the room went cold, describing it as“the Scientology stare”and comparing the moment to“Rosemary’s Baby.”
She also claims Cruise introduced her to Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige, who served as his best man, and that Carrey was reluctant to visit Cruise’s Aspen home because he feared they’d be“lured in.”As for Katie Holmes, McCarthy says she seemed to change during the marriage and often looked like“a deer in headlights,”noting she’d check on her at events.
Cruise and Holmes divorced in 2012; McCarthy and Carrey dated from 2005 to 2010. Neither Cruise nor Holmes has publicly responded to the claims. Do you think McCarthy’s account holds up, or is this one we need to hear the other side of? Drop your take below.
