Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg says she has moved into a tent in her backyard, and the reason is not what you’d guess. On her podcast this week, she explained that she’s in month seven of detoxing from mycotoxin poisoning, a diagnosis she received in December 2025, and she’s too paranoid to sleep inside her house.

The road there was rough. Her first symptom was a recurring infected root canal that swelled the left side of her face. From there came constant chalazions, multiple eye surgeries, skin rashes, food allergies, and SIBO. She’s spent tens of thousands of dollars remediating her home and replacing furniture and clothes, and she and husband Donnie Wahlberg listed their Illinois house for $2.8 million in September. She describes herself as still being in the traumatic part of the illness, comparing it to PTSD.

Mold illness is one of those conditions that draws real debate, and plenty of people who’ve lived through chronic illness will recognize the exhaustion and the fear in her story. The woman is literally camping in her own yard to feel safe.

Would you ever sleep outside your own house if you thought it was making you sick? Sound off in the comments.
