Javier Bardem Backs Petition to Remove Pink as UNICEF Ambassador: What Actually Happened

Javier Bardem has thrown his support behind a Change.org petition calling for Pink to be removed as a UNICEF ambassador, and the numbers are moving fast. The petition, launched September 11 by a group called Swifties Against Genocide, has already passed 179,000 signatures. Pink has held the ambassador role since 2015, focused on child health and nutrition.

The tension traces back to Macklemore’s pro-Palestine speeches at Ed Sheeran’s New Jersey shows, where he also performed“Hind’s Hall.”Pink shared a StopAntisemitism post criticizing that set, then clarified her position after backlash, saying she disagreed with some of the language she shared and has never asked for another artist to be silenced. Macklemore was dropped from the tour and pledged $1 million in earnings to Palestinian support organizations.

The bigger debate here is where personal expression ends and public accountability begins, and whether a charity partnership should hinge on social media activity. Both artists have real convictions and real audiences. The petition keeps growing either way.
