In a case that’s eerie enough to make any horror film pale in comparison, Jonathan Gerlach from Pennsylvania was arrested for allegedly stealing over 100 human skeletal remains from various graves. After a tip-off about multiple cemetery burglaries, police executed a search warrant at Gerlach’s home and found the remains packed away in his basement. Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse made it clear that Gerlach faces serious charges including abuse of a corpse and criminal trespass, among others. The remains, some of which were over 100 years old, were reportedly in deplorable condition, raising further questions about Gerlach’s motives.
