A former office manager at Gregston’s Nursing Home in Marlow is facing a felony embezzlement charge in Stephens County District Court after the facility reported more than $20,000 missing from a patient trust account this summer. Mary Jolene Gensamer, 40, had a felony arrest warrant issued Tuesday. Court records and police reports describe a trust account holding Social Security direct deposits for 11 residents who had no family involved in managing their finances.
Investigators say the debit card connected to that trust account was linked to Gensamer’s personal Amazon account. Roughly $13,600 in alleged unauthorized purchases went through Amazon, along with ATM withdrawals and Walmart cash back. According to investigators, Social Security deposits continued after one of the patients had died, and the U.S. Treasury subsequently deducted $21,831 from the nursing home’s trust account, leaving the facility out of that money as well.
The charge of felony embezzlement carries up to seven years in prison, a $10,000 fine, and restitution if there’s a conviction. Gensamer’s attorney has not arranged a statement, and records note she threatened suicide and was briefly admitted to a mental health facility. Charges are accusations, and everyone is presumed innocent until a case is proven.
