Harvey Spevak, executive chairman of Equinox, is engaged to former Fox 5“Good Day New York”co-anchor Bianca Peters after four years together. The proposal went down in El Paso, Texas, where Peters’extended family lives, and Spevak pulled out every stop: a mariachi band, a string quartet playing the Chicks’“Cowboy Take Me Away,”and a late-night Taco Bell delivery.

The location carried real meaning. Peters’late grandmother, Irene Castillo, told Spevak“No ring, no Bianca”before she passed three years ago, and the El Paso proposal honored her Mexican-American roots. Spevak even delivered a full speech in Spanish. As Peters put it,“that man does not speak a word of Spanish.”She described the night as“freakin’water works the whole time.”

The couple met during the pandemic when Peters and Rosanna Scotto interviewed Spevak via satellite, then reconnected at a Hamptons party. Wedding plans point toward Mexico, with more mariachis and plenty of tequila. What’s the most memorable proposal detail you’ve ever heard?
