Ella Langley’s“Choosin’Texas”has officially become the longest-running No. 1 in Billboard Hot 100 history. The song just logged its 23rd week at the top, passing Mariah Carey’s“All I Want for Christmas Is You,”which held the record at 22 weeks. For a track that only debuted in November 2025 and reached No. 1 in February 2026, that’s a staggering run.

The numbers back it up.“Choosin’Texas”pulled 21.8 million streams and 58.3 million radio impressions in the latest tracking week alone. Langley co-wrote the song with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor, and she shouted them out in an emotional Instagram video.“It’s changing my life,”she said.“It’s changing the lives of the writers of this song.”She also admitted the whole thing feels fake, like someone’s about to reveal it was all a joke.

One catch: Mariah’s holiday classic climbs the chart every December without fail, so there’s a real chance this record race isn’t over. For now, though, a country song sits on top of the all-genre Hot 100 record book, and that alone is a moment. So what do you think: does Ella keep the crown through the holidays, or does Mariah come back for it?
