Drivers who use Southeast Lee Boulevard near the Lawton Soccer Club are now sharing the road with a major construction project. Crews began demolishing and rebuilding the westbound bridge over East Cache Creek on Sept. 14, kicking off a 210-day effort that will keep both directions of traffic on a single lane of the eastbound bridge for the duration.
Access to the Lawton Soccer Club and surrounding properties is expected to remain open, so practices, games, and regular trips to that side of town can continue. The bigger adjustment is time. This stretch of SH-7 carried roughly 20,100 vehicles a day last year, according to ODOT, and all of that traffic is now working through a tighter squeeze, especially during morning and afternoon rush hours. The project is scheduled to wrap up in mid-April 2027, weather permitting, though Oklahoma storms can always nudge a timeline.
