Drainage Crisis on NE Rogers Lane Finally Fixed—Traffic's Rolling Again

If you’ve been taking the long way around NE Rogers Lane for the past week, here’s some good news: the road’s back in business.

The City of Lawton completed drainage repairs on the section of NE Rogers Lane between NE Tortoise and NE Village Drive, reopening the roadway at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Friday, July 10. That means commuters and residents who’ve been navigating detours can finally reclaim their usual routes through that part of Northeast Lawton.

The closure wasn’t random inconvenience—the Stormwater Maintenance and Streets Division crews were tackling damaged drainage infrastructure that needed attention before the road could safely reopen. Summer storms in Oklahoma don’t wait around, and faulty drainage systems are a recipe for serious problems come monsoon season. Getting this fixed now means fewer headaches (and potential flooding) down the road.

The City of Lawton thanked residents for their patience while crews worked to restore the roadway as quickly as possible. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes infrastructure work that doesn’t make headlines until something goes wrong, but when it goes right, it keeps our neighborhoods functional and safe. Traffic can flow again, and that’s worth acknowledging.
