Donnie Wahlberg and seven other people are safe after a private plane skidded off a runway at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 18. The jet was departing for Toronto, where Wahlberg films his CBS series Boston Blue, but it never got airborne. Instead, it ran out of runway, slid past heavy airport vehicles, and came to a stop at the perimeter fence. No injuries were reported among the passengers or pilots.
Wahlberg shared his own account on Instagram, giving full credit to the flight crew:“I’m just going to tell you these pilots saved our lives.”He also posted a prayer thanking God and the emergency crews on the ground. His wife, Jenny McCarthy, responded to his post with“God is so good!!!!”The timing made it even more dramatic, since Wahlberg had been in Vegas for the final night of New Kids on the Block’s residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
It’s a scary story with the best possible ending, and it’s sparking plenty of conversation about runway safety and the people who get us home. Have you ever had a travel moment that made you grateful to be on the ground? Tell us in the comments.
