Dave Franco stopped by Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast on Monday and got candid about what it’s really like sharing a last name with one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. His take? The Franco connection did not come with a fast pass.“No one was going to hire me just because I was James Franco’s little brother,”he said, adding that years of grinding have finally earned him his own recognition.

That grind is real, too. While James, 48, became a household name through Freaks and Geeks, Spider-Man, and his James Dean biopic, Dave, 41, built his own résumé with 21 Jump Street, Neighbors, and Now You See Me. He says he loves his brother and values his advice, but he’s proud that people now give him his own due.

Dave also opened up about staying off social media entirely. He admitted it makes him feel isolated and out of the loop on trends, but it shields him from the daily negativity that comes with endless scrolling. So, be honest: could you log off for good, or would the FOMO win?
