Dancing with the Stars kicks off Season 35 tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, and the show is going bigger than it ever has. Sixteen celebrities make up the largest cast in DWTS history, and the premiere is a two-night event, with the men performing Sept. 15 and the women taking the floor Sept. 16.
Week 1 comes with a built-in nostalgia hook: every star dances to a number one hit from the year they were born. That means the song list spans decades of pop, R&B and everything in between, and there are sure to be a few tracks you haven’t thought about in years. The season also delivers historic moments, including the first time an Olympic champion and a Paralympic champion are competing together, plus the third same-sex partnership in the show’s history.
The cast includes Guillermo Rodriguez, Amber Glenn, Ezra Frech, Jenna Dewan and Julia Stiles, among others. New episodes air weekly on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC, and cord-cutters can catch it with a five-day free trial through DIRECTV.
So which birth-year hit would you want if you were dancing for the mirrorball? Tell us in the comments.
