Chucky's Creator Just Beat Nicki Minaj in the Most On-Brand Feud of the Week

Nicki Minaj marked Election Day by sharing an AI-generated image of Chucky in a pink suit with a“Vote Red”badge, positioning the killer doll as her political mascot. The only problem? Chucky has a creator, and Don Mancini knows his character’s history better than any algorithm does.

Mancini responded on X with a list of reasons Chucky wouldn’t sign off: the doll has a trans kid named Glen, sometimes Glenda, who’s been part of franchise canon for years. He protects the dolls. He’s anti-ICE. And according to Mancini, a blue wave was coming, as blue as his eyes. After Democrats won the Senate and House, Mancini followed through with his own edit of a blue-haired Chucky, captioned“Too bad, Nicki!”and #bluewave, pointing out his version required no AI at all.

The whole exchange has fans debating celebrity political posts, AI-generated imagery, and what happens when a creator pushes back on how a fandom uses his character. Minaj hasn’t posted since the results, and her last music release was in 2024.

So where do you land: team creator with the blue hair dye, or team free-for-all fan edits? Let us know.
