Christina Applegate is opening up about the toughest stretch of her health journey so far. On the latest episode of her“MeSsy”podcast, she told listeners it took her ten minutes to move off her pillow, get out of bed, and stand up, and that a walker now sits beside her bed after she nearly couldn’t walk to the bathroom. The mobility decline comes as she’s still dealing with worsening symptoms.
That’s because doctors recently told her she does not have multiple sclerosis, five years after she started treatment for the disease. The news sent her back to square one, and she’s now seeing a rheumatologist while continuing to consult specialists until someone finds the right answers.
Through all of it, Applegate told co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler that she will remain an advocate for the MS community, saying she’ll speak out on their behalf“forever and ever.”Her willingness to share the messy, unresolved parts of her health story is sparking conversations about second opinions and what happens when the diagnosis doesn’t hold up.
Have you ever pushed for a second opinion that changed everything? Tell us in the comments.
