Christina Applegate Says She's Still an MS "Warrior" After Revealing Misdiagnosis

Christina Applegate spent five years living publicly with multiple sclerosis. This month, she told listeners on the“MeSsy”podcast that doctors now say she does not have the disease. The catch: her symptoms never went away. They’ve gotten worse, and she still relies on a wheelchair for some trips.“You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of a sudden I’m better,”she said.

The update raises uncomfortable questions about misdiagnosis and what happens when the medical label you built your life around disappears, but the illness itself doesn’t. Applegate has been one of the most visible celebrity voices in the MS community since going public in 2021, and she says that work isn’t stopping.“I’m still your warrior,”she told listeners, vowing to keep speaking out on the community’s behalf.

Her co-host Jamie Lynn Sigler, who was diagnosed with MS in 2002, said the podcast was never meant to be only about MS, and the show will continue. For now, it’s a rare candid look at medical uncertainty from someone with a massive platform to talk about it.

Have you ever dealt with a diagnosis that turned out to be wrong? Tell us in the comments.
