Charli xcx Reportedly Joins Martin Scorsese's New Thriller Alongside DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence

Charli xcx is reportedly making the leap from arena stages to a Martin Scorsese set. Reports say the pop star has a cameo in What Happens at Night, the director’s upcoming psychological thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. The film, set up with Apple and StudioCanal, follows an American couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby and begin to question how well they really know each other. Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris are also in the cast. Her spokesperson has not confirmed the role, so consider this one a strong rumor.

If it pans out, the cameo caps off a busy two years for Charli on screen. She recently played a wonderfully vapid pop star in Netflix’s eco-thriller Sacrifice, and What Happens at Night would mark seven films in two years. That’s a rapid expansion from music into acting, and pairing her with Scorsese, DiCaprio and Lawrence would put her in a whole new category of collaborators.

She’s also finishing her Music, Fashion, Film tour Friday in Las Vegas after canceling a Glendale show due to a lost voice.
