Farnham, 77, missed the event due to poor health, and Dion made sure to honor him in her message, calling him a“deep inspiration”and saying she wished she could be there to celebrate her dear friend. The night featured more than 120 artists along with surprise appearances from Chris Martin and Hugh Jackman, while Dion continues her 16-date comeback residency in Paris amid her management of stiff person syndrome.

More than 23,000 fans watched from Hoyt’s cinemas nationwide, and demand was strong enough that organizers are planning an encore screening with a re-edited version.
