Carrot Top Hospitalized: What We Know About His Recovery and the Extortion Allegation

Carrot Top, the Vegas headliner whose real name is Scott Thompson, was hospitalized Friday after reportedly overdosing on prescription medication. His representative, Jami Schlicher, says the 61-year-old is now awake, breathing on his own, and continuing to improve, surrounded by family and those closest to him. Five shows at the Luxor were canceled while he recovers.

The hospitalization comes weeks after a September 3 court filing in which Thompson’s attorney accused musician Brian Evans, a former opening act, of threatening to leak a sexually explicit video unless he was paid $500,000. Evans denies the extortion claim, says the video was deleted long ago, and told reporters he wishes Thompson well. Thompson has not publicly commented on the allegations.
