BTS has done it again. Their album‘ARIRANG’surged back into the top 10 on the Billboard 200 this week, jumping from No. 26 to No. 9. The secret weapon? A new limited-edition picture disc vinyl that dropped on July 17. The vinyl included two bonus tracks, and ARMYs responded in a big way. Vinyl sales skyrocketed by 398% week-over-week, contributing to 40,000 total equivalent album units earned in the US.
The chart resurgence was also fueled by promotion for their latest single‘Normal’and their show-stopping FIFA World Cup final halftime performance. It is a perfect example of how physical releases and major cultural moments can combine to give a project serious longevity. Meanwhile, Gracie Abrams debuted at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart with‘Daughter From Hell’, and Motionless In White landed at No. 2 with‘Decades’.
