Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz were photographed together on the London set of“The Mummy 4”on Tuesday, marking the first time the two have filmed side by side since“The Mummy Returns”in 2001. The pair originated the roles of Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan in the 1999 original, but Weisz skipped 2008’s“Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”due to a scheduling conflict, with Maria Bello taking over the part.

The reunion has been building for a while. Talks of both actors returning surfaced in November 2025, and their involvement was confirmed three months later. Now the film, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, has moved up from a May 2028 date to Oct. 15, 2027, a shift that suggests the studio likes what it’s seeing.

It’s not just a two-person reunion either. Original stars Oded Fehr, John Hannah and Kevin J. O’Connor are all returning, joined by newcomers Michael Johnston and Numan Acar. For fans who grew up with the franchise, the timing lands perfectly alongside Fraser’s career resurgence since his Oscar win.
