RJ Mitte, who played Walter“Flynn”White Jr. on“Breaking Bad,”died by suicide Monday at 34. His mother, Dyna Mitte, told NBC News she found him after he didn’t answer an 11 a.m. phone call. He had spent the weekend before with family and friends, and she said there was no note and no obvious sign that anything was wrong.

She also revealed that she had offered him therapy for three months, and each time he declined. In her interview, she said speaking out is now her purpose: if telling his story saves someone else, a mother should never have to find her child this way. Former co-stars Bryan Cranston and Anna Gunn have both posted tributes, and fans have been rewatching his scenes all week.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available right now. Call or text 988 in the US to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time, day or night. It’s free and confidential. So what’s one small way you’re planning to check in on someone you love this week?
