Sahara Ray, the Australian model who first broke into the public conversation in 2016, has passed away at 34. According to reports, she overdosed on fentanyl on Friday and was placed on life support at a Los Angeles hospital before her family made the decision to remove her from it on Sunday. No official cause of death has been released.
Ray gave birth to her daughter Snow Ray Dow in January and never publicly named the baby’s father. Her mother, Gretchen Bach, remembered her as an incredibly passionate and kind young woman who loved her family, fashion, her daughter, and surfing. Friend Sabrina Zada shared a tribute calling Ray a ray of light, writing,“You were bigger than the whole sky.”
The loss has sparked renewed conversation about fentanyl awareness and the signs of overdose at a time when young parents are among those hit hardest. Ray leaves behind a family, friends, and a baby girl who’ll grow up hearing how much her mom lit up a room. Have you had a real conversation with your people about fentanyl?
