Attorney Claims Water on Clear Irvine Road Led to Fatal James Wehr McLaren Crash

Car influencer James Wehr, 27, and passenger Alexis“Lexi”Kramer, 22, died early Sunday, September 13, when Wehr’s 2019 McLaren struck a tree in Irvine, California. The impact split the car in two and sparked a fire. Now the attorney representing Wehr’s widow, Emma, says the road itself may have played a role, claiming a significant amount of water was present on an otherwise clear night, creating what he calls an“extremely hazardous condition for any motorist.”

Attorney Corey Higgins says his firm is actively investigating where that water came from and whether the vehicle’s crashworthiness should be questioned. Newport Beach police confirm Wehr was stopped roughly five hours before the crash for a loud exhaust and released with a warning. Kramer’s relative also told the California Post that Wehr had said he was in the middle of divorcing his wife, adding another thread to an already complex investigation.
