When Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, 68, commits to making an entrance at a major event, he apparently means business—even if that means cutting back on the very thing he’s famous for: cheeseburgers.

During an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show on Friday, June 5, Reid revealed that he’s made some dietary adjustments with a specific goal in mind: looking sharp enough to attend the highly anticipated wedding of tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift.“Listen, I’ve cut back on the cheeseburgers now that I’m older,”Reid said with characteristic humor.“I can get in the tuxedo, so there’s a chance I’ll be there, for sure.”

The couple, who got engaged in August 2025 after two years of dating, has kept wedding specifics under wraps, though rumors have swirled all spring about a summer ceremony. Swift herself fueled speculation during an October 2025 appearance on the Graham Norton Show, hinting at excitement around post-tour planning.“I think the wedding is what happens after [my Life of a Showgirl promotional tour] in the scheme of the planning, but I’m so excited about it,”she said, adding that the couple has decided to scale back from an initially massive vision. According to an insider who spoke to Us Weekly in April, they’ve opted for an intimate gathering rather than a blowout affair.

Reid’s connection to both the bride and groom runs surprisingly deep. He’s coached Kelce on the Chiefs, but his history with Swift goes even further back—he knew her through her family while he was coaching the Philadelphia Eagles.“She’s a Pennsylvania girl, so I got to know her before Trav did,”Reid joked on the show. That shared history clearly sits well with him, and he’s been openly enthusiastic about their union.“I’m happy for them that they’re in love. That, to me, is the most important thing,”he said.

While it remains unclear whether Reid has officially received an invitation, he’s made his intentions crystal clear. Earlier this month on Kansas City’s The Drive radio show, he quipped:“Well, I probably have … and if I don’t outgrow my tuxedo before then, I’m going.”The casual confidence and warmth in his take—acknowledging that beneath all the celebrity noise, it’s really just two people in love—feels genuinely refreshing. When you strip away the fame and the spectacle, Reid seems to suggest, what matters is the bond itself, not the guest list or the production value.

His diet overhaul, tongue-in-cheek as it may be, signals just how much these two people matter to him.
