Zachary Levi is done with California. In a new interview with Fox News Digital, the actor called his home state“a failed state”that is“literally and figuratively on fire,”explaining why he traded Los Angeles for a 75-acre ranch outside Austin, Texas, back in 2017. He didn’t stop at the move, though. Levi is now developing Wyldwood Studios, a $100 million film and lifestyle campus in Bastrop County, with the first two soundstages expected to open in 2027.
His goal is a Hollywood owned and operated by artists. Levi said he felt“very compelled by God”to build something better, and the project is a long-term bet on Texas as an entertainment hub. He’s not alone either. A growing list of stars has swapped California for the Lone Star State in recent years, citing taxes, cost of living and quality of life.
On the career side, Levi is leaning into darker roles. He stars in the action thriller“The Fix”alongside Liam Neeson, playing a disgraced former CIA operative.
