Daisuke Ashihara’s World Trigger Vol. 30 has claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard Japan’s Book Hot 100 chart for the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, released Oct. 8. The volume dominated both brick-and-mortar sales and e-book rankings, giving the long-running sci-fi battle series a clean sweep at the top.
Comics locked down every single spot in the top 10 this week, a sharp reversal from last week when an extended holiday pushed novels into the upper ranks. Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga Vol. 11 debuted at No. 2 ahead of its anime Season 2 premiere in January 2027, while BORUTO -TWO BLUE VORTEX- Vol. 9 took No. 3. Fuyumi Ono’s Yumei no Kishi: Juni Kokuki, which spent two weeks at No. 1, dropped to No. 12 but still ranked No. 3 in physical stores. Yu Nagira’s Nanji, Hoshi no Gotoku sits at No. 13 with its live-action film opening Oct. 9.
For fans paying attention to the business side of publishing, Billboard Japan will hold its first book chart awards ceremony on Nov. 14, with free admission applications accepted through Oct. 18. It’s a big moment for the industry and a rare chance to celebrate the series and creators moving the most copies.
