A simple act of noticing changed everything for a 64-year-old Navy veteran. Keegan Thackery was at John Wayne Airport when she spotted James Blair limping across the tarmac. Instead of looking away, she filmed a video and posted it on TikTok, asking her followers to help identify the man in pain. The internet responded in a way no one expected.

Within days, a GoFundMe campaign for James Blair had raised more than $174,000. Blair works as a fuel mechanic at the airport despite having severely deteriorated knees. He explained that he can’t afford to retire because he helps pay for his elderly mother’s hospice care. The fundraiser has now topped $180,000 from over 6,000 donors. Blair already used some of the money to buy a new bed and told reporters that the experience restored his faith in God, calling Keegan an angel.

This story is a powerful reminder that one person paying attention can start a wave of kindness that changes a life. It also raises questions about how we support veterans who continue to struggle after their service. Would you have done what Keegan did? Let us know in the comments.
