Olivia Mack was mid-workday at home when someone started typing on her apartment keypad and jiggling the door handle. The deadbolt held, but when she checked the peephole she saw a bald man in glasses and a flannel shirt who refused to respond to her knocks. Before leaving, he dragged his hands down the door, leaving marks that looked like claws. Mack called her mother, her neighbor, and her boyfriend, and never opened the door.
The story took an even darker turn when maintenance workers found the man elsewhere in the building. According to Mack’s TikTok, he made disturbing comments about kidnapping and killing children when confronted. Police were involved, but Mack says she never learned what happened to him afterward.
Mack posted the story to urge people to trust their instincts and verify unexpected visitors through a peephole, camera, building management, or a trusted person before opening the door. With so many people working from home alone, it’s a reminder worth taking seriously. Do you have a safety routine for when someone knocks? Tell us what you do.
