Will Friedle is opening up about a scary start to October. The Boy Meets World alum, 50, revealed on the Pod Meets World podcast that he woke up Saturday, October 3,“badly peeing blood”and rushed to the hospital, where his wife Susan Martens noticed the color drain from his face. Doctors diagnosed him with a kidney stone small enough to pass naturally, but he had to wait on a stretcher in a crowded hallway before getting a room.
Even in the middle of all that, Friedle kept his sense of humor. When a nurse handed him his co-pay bill, he joked,“Just filled up a glass with blood, but thank you!”He was prescribed OxyContin for the pain but decided against taking it, citing“too many horror stories.”And in the moment that instantly won the internet, a nurse imitated his character Eric Matthews’famous“Feenay”catchphrase from Boy Meets World while handing over the bill.
Friedle is now looking ahead to a busy November: he’s touring with podcast cohosts Rider Strong and Danielle Fishel to promote his memoir, Book Meets World. The run kicks off November 9 in Ridgeway, New Jersey, and wraps November 20 in Naperville, Illinois. What’s the funniest thing a medical professional has ever said to you?
