A TikToker who goes by Humpty says she bought a Frigidaire ice maker at Walmart, brought it home, and discovered cockroaches crawling out of the box within minutes of opening it. She bagged the unit and was back at the store within 20 minutes, where an employee smashed roaches that kept emerging from the packaging. She says she waited roughly 90 minutes while staff reviewed camera footage.
The detail that has people talking is the serial number. The number on the ice maker didn’t match the number on the box, which suggests a previous customer may have swapped an infested unit into new packaging and returned it. She also says Walmart support told her to take the infested ice maker back home and return the next morning, so she filed a customer care complaint and planned to speak with a manager. Her video has already racked up over 92,000 views.
It raises a question every shopper should care about: how closely do stores inspect returned appliances before they go back on the shelf? Until that answer is clearer, inspect large purchases before you get them home and keep that receipt handy.
