Victoria Monét has officially entered a new era. Frequency of Love arrived on Oct. 2, a 22-track project that finds her trading the brassy,’70s-leaning R&B of her Grammy-winning Jaguar II run for something bigger: house, gospel, Motown, and Afrobeats all folded into one record. She linked back up with longtime producer D’Mile to make it happen, and the result is the kind of album you have to sit with start to finish.
The guest list is stacked. SZA, Bruno Mars, Bryson Tiller, Leon Thomas, Chlöe, and Lucky Daye all pull up, and Monét’s five-year-old daughter Hazel makes an appearance too. On the charts,“Let Me”spent three weeks at No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay, while“Reach Out”keeps climbing. And if you want homework, Billboard ranked all 22 tracks, naming“See You in My Dreams”featuring SZA as the best of the bunch.
If you’re already planning your concert fit, the Frequency of Love Tour launches Oct. 27 in Raleigh and wraps Dec. 17 in San Francisco. So which track is living at the top of your playlist right now?
