A 1978 David Bowie concert film that has never been seen is being turned into a global immersive arena experience in 2027. The footage comes from Bowie’s Earls Court“Stage”show, and filmmaker Brett Morgen discovered it about a decade ago while working on Moonage Daydream. The project is a partnership between Morgen, Wonderworld, and the Bowie Estate, with the Berlin International Film Festival on board.

The world premiere is set for February 14, 2027 at Berlin’s Uber Arena, with tickets on sale October 30. European dates kick off in May, followed by UK shows in June and July, including a return to Earls Court. The production blends raw 35mm footage with a Patrick Woodroffe lightshow, a Paul Massey audio mix, and transparent LED screens that make Bowie and his band appear right there on stage.

It’s all timed with the Bowie80 birthday celebrations, and there’s a bit of poetry here: Bowie said in 2000 that he didn’t like how the show was shot, but suspected it would be released eventually. Nearly 50 years later, it’s finally happening. Are you grabbing tickets on October 30, or waiting to see the reviews first?
