Two Decades of Chaos: Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler's Messy Aftermath

When a relationship ends, most exes eventually move on and build separate lives. But for Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler, the 22 years since their 2004-2008 marriage dissolved have been anything but a clean break—a saga of custody battles, public accusations, and ongoing tension that recently resurfaced at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The pair’s split started publicly and stayed that way. After filing for divorce in 2006 on-and-off and finalizing it in 2008, they quickly became tabloid fixtures, trading barbs over infidelity, parenting styles, and who was really the problem in their marriage. What should have been a typical celebrity divorce devolved into something far messier—court documents reveal explosive texts accusing each other of drug use, absent parenting, and worse. In one 2014 exchange, Moakler told Barker to keep his“drug addict girlfriends away from my kids,”while he responded by calling her a“f–king call girl”and describing himself as the devoted parent who attended every school event and cooking lesson.

The real flashpoint came when their two kids, Landon and Alabama, publicly sided with their father in 2021. Alabama posted on Instagram that her mom“has never completely been in my life”and questioned why Moakler didn’t reach out on Mother’s Day. Landon echoed similar sentiments on TikTok. Moakler denied the claims, but the damage was done—and it has lingered ever since.

Things only intensified once Barker started dating Kourtney Kardashian in late 2020. Moakler alleged he’d had an affair with Kim Kardashian in the early 2000s (claims both Barker and Kim have denied), and she’s spent years liking shady social media comments and making pointed posts about Kourtney posting more about“my kids”than her own. Even as Barker married Kardashian and they built a blended family, the hostility never really cooled.

At the Tribeca premiere in June 2026, both exes showed up to discuss their past. Barker opened up about his 2008 plane crash and addiction struggles, while Moakler recalled him confessing to taking 20 to 30 painkillers daily at the height of his dependence. It was civil enough for a public appearance, but the fact that two decades later they’re still making headlines over their marriage speaks volumes about just how fractured this relationship remains. Some exes find peace. These two seem stuck in a loop where moving forward means constantly relitigating the past.
