Trump Says He Takes Full-Dose Aspirin Daily: "Psychologically I Need It"

President Donald Trump told a crowd at an Ohio rally on October 3 that he takes a daily Bayer aspirin, and he made it clear he’s not interested in the smaller version. He said he takes the 325-milligram dose rather than the 81-milligram dose that’s commonly recommended for some heart patients, and that dropping down would cause“something bad”to happen. His explanation?“I don’t know if it works, but psychologically I need it.”He added,“I’ve been doing okay for 35 years. Leave me alone.”

The comments echo what he told the Wall Street Journal earlier this year, when he connected his daily aspirin use to visible bruising on his hands. He’s since covered that bruising with makeup, while a former press secretary once attributed it to a table bump. Doctors note that the daily dose he describes is significantly higher than what’s typically advised, and aspirin carries real bleeding and bruising risks, especially at higher doses.

So there’s the health angle, the stubborn-routine angle, and the very relatable“I’ve always done it this way”energy all rolled into one clip that’s already making the rounds online. Whether you’re Team Check With Your Doctor or Team Leave Me Alone, everybody seems to have a take. Which side are you on?
