Tragedy Strikes in Paradise: A Shark Attack Claims a Life in St. Croix

A tragic incident took place recently when Arlene Lillis, a 56-year-old woman from Minnesota, fell victim to a shark attack while vacationing in St. Croix. This unexpected turn of events occurred near Dorsch Beach, where some unsuspecting beachgoers were enjoying the sun and surf. Lifeguards and emergency responders rushed to the scene after hearing her screams, but it was already too late; she had lost her left arm and sustained severe injuries.

Christopher Carroll, a vacationer who happened to have a nursing and lifeguarding background, jumped into action to rescue Lillis from the water. Despite his and others’efforts to assist her, Lillis ultimately succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
