Tomi Adeyemi Pulls Out of New York Comic Con Panel as Children of Blood and Bone Cast Promotes the Film

Tomi Adeyemi was set to appear at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 10 for her new book, The Siren. Instead, the panel quietly disappeared from the convention schedule, with no public statement and no explanation. That silence is doing a lot of talking.

For months, Adeyemi has been candid about her experience adapting Children of Blood and Bone for Paramount. She co-wrote the screenplay, and she has described the process as the worst thing she has ever had to live through, saying she left the set hyperventilating and sobbing. She has also said she does not plan to watch the finished film. The same day her panel vanished, the film’s own panel went ahead with director Gina Prince-Bythewood and cast members including Amandla Stenberg, Thuso Mbedu, and Damson Idris. No one addressed her absence, and no official link between the two events has been confirmed.

So what does this mean for the movie, which hits theaters January 15, 2027? That’s the question everyone’s asking. A blockbuster adaptation with a disengaged author is a marketing puzzle nobody has solved yet.

Are you planning to see Children of Blood and Bone in theaters, or does the behind-the-scenes drama change how you feel about it?
