Niall Horan’s Dinner Party Live On Tour rolled into Manchester’s Co-op Live on September 25, and seven songs in, he brought out a guest nobody saw coming: Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden. The pair traded vocals on“Charlemagne,”the 2015 breakout that opened Blossoms’self-titled debut album, which hit Number One in the UK in 2016. The arena sang every word back at them.
Ogden has been reflecting on the song’s staying power lately, telling interviewers that if Blossoms put“Charlemagne”out tomorrow, people would still jump on it. Manchester made that case for him. The timing is no accident either, with Blossoms’sixth album,“Songs From The Wedding Cake,”arriving October 2, right before their biggest headline tour yet, including two Co-op Live dates on November 28 and December 11.
Horan’s tour continues through Glasgow, Sheffield, and London before heading into Europe and Ireland, and he’s been mixing One Direction favorites into the set all along. Two beloved UK acts, one unannounced moment, and a song that refuses to age.
