Tom Holland, Sabrina Carpenter, and Margaret Qualley Are Making a Fred Astaire Biopic Together

Tom Holland is officially playing Fred Astaire, and the cast around him just got a whole lot more interesting. Sabrina Carpenter has signed on to play Ginger Rogers, Astaire’s most iconic dance partner, while Margaret Qualley will take on the role of Adele Astaire, Fred’s sister and his first collaborator on the stage. Paul King, who directed Paddington and Wonka, is helming the untitled film from a script he co-wrote with Steven Levenson.

What makes this project stand out is the family involvement. Fred Astaire’s daughter, Ava Astaire McKenzie, has given her blessing to the film, and her son Tyler McKenzie is serving as a consultant and co-producer. That kind of approval doesn’t happen often with biopics, and it suggests the creative team is taking the legacy seriously.
