Taylor Swift has officially moved from football student to football professor. Tom Cruise told Jimmy Fallon on Thursday’s“The Tonight Show”that Swift spent Monday’s Chiefs-Broncos game at Arrowhead explaining the sport to him, and he had zero complaints about it.“She was bringing the football. First of all, she’s a genius,”Cruise said, before adding that she’s also a brilliant writer, musician and director. This was apparently Cruise’s first football game since before COVID, which means he picked one heck of a night to return.
The sweetest detail? Swift told Cruise that Travis Kelce was patient with her back when she was first learning the sport. Cruise’s response:“I’m sure he was.”The kicker is that the woman who once needed the game explained to her is now the one doing the explaining, and she’s married to the guy she learned it for. ESPN’s Pat McAfee, who was in the same suite, said Swift was kind and hospitable to everyone and joked that Cruise never broke a sweat in his leather jacket the entire night.
So two of the biggest names in entertainment shared a suite, talked music and movies, and the internet got a rare Hollywood-meets-NFL crossover moment out of it. The Chiefs beat the Broncos, Cruise called Swift a genius, and McAfee remains haunted by the leather jacket.
